Remember the 'Classic' and 'Full' versions of Hotmail? New Hotmail takes the best features of the ‘Classic’ and ‘Full’ versions and blends them together into one seamless package. All users will benefit from these new features and a slick new interface.
You can choose how to display your reading pane to preview messages - side, bottom, or off.
Performance
Proving that new Hotmail is not just about the sassy visual overhaul, you can expect speeds up to 70% faster on sign-in (50% for non-broadband users).
Themes
Aside from the new sheen, Hotmail now offers users the opportunity to customise their e-mail experience with a selection of glossy themes. There are eight to choose from by default, simply select 'Options' from up in the Hotmail header.
Handy tip: Funnily enough more themes can be unlocked by clicking the 'More themes' link.
Security improvements
Anti-Virus protection is now provided through Windows Live OneCare. Attachments are scanned during upload, incoming e-mail is also put through the scanner's strict filters. Added to this Hotmail's investment in significant anti-spam measures and your e-mail has never been safer!
Usability
Adding contacts to an e-mail has now got even easier! Just start typing the name of one of your contacts in the To: line, and Hotmail automatically starts filling in matches from your contact list.
The spell-checking tool has just been given an upgrade. You'll see improvements in accuracy and context sensitivity.
